I am honored to be here as a contemporary author of modern Turkey where great leader Atatürk introduced secularism, ninty one years ago.
I feel so lucky to have grown up in Atatürk’s Turkey, and also in a family where girls, for generations, had been raised as praised individuals with rights to study, to choose their way of life, to choose their husbands with whom they stood beside with love all the way. Those women were strong and brave and they set a great example for me.

BM’ye üye olan ülkeler, daha iyi bir Dünya, daha sağlıklı, mutlu insanlar ve yaşanabilir bir çevre, için bir araya gelerek, aşağıda özetini verdiğim SÜRDÜREBİLİR KALKINMA HEDEFLERİ (BM ve TÜRKİYE 2030 SÜRDÜRÜLEBİLİR KALKINMA HEDEFLERİ “İstediğimiz Gelecek” (The Future We Want) için, BM Genel Kurulu nezdindeki tüm üyeler, ortak bir karar çıkarttılar ve 2015 yılından itibaren ise bu amaçla BM nezdinde ve ülke ve bölge kapsamında çalışmalara başlanmıştır.
‘Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma’ kavramı ise ilk kez, 1987 yılında Dünya Çevre ve Kalkınma Komisyonu’nca hazırlanan Brundtland Raporu’nda “Bugünün gereksinimlerini, gelecek kuşakların gereksinimlerini karşılama yeteneğinden ödün vermeden karşılayan kalkınma” olarak tanımlanmıştır.*1*

It was exactly fifteen years before this event that
the Passport of World Citizenship had grabbed my attention…
I had first seen it among his prizes in the library of Sir Arthur C. Clarke
at the Barnes Place in Colombo,
during my first visit on December 20, 2002…

There is a perception that everything exists in the universe as if it has been reflected through the mind of mankind…

I was in a forest densely filled with very tall and wide pine trees
There was a hillside at the entrance of the forest…
Just like the one at the entrance of the Forest Park by the Park Lane
which is 10 minutes from where I live
However, all the pine trees on the hillside were uprooted and carried away
The earth in the denuded open area was still very fresh and wet
As if it was fallowed that day with the purpose of farming!

Once I was influenced by your vision, I wanted to interview you…
At that time, I had read in the newspapers that you were in New York…
I had immediately found out where you were staying and called
This hotel happened to be the one where you had written the book “2001: Space Odyssey”
Much later, I also found out that in front of the hotel wall,
there is a placket in your name that refers you’ve written the “2001: Space Odyssey” there…

Ve ne büyük bir rastlantı ki, New York’a 1990 yılında ilk ayak bastığım ve benim de kalmış olduğum oteldi, Hotel Chelsa…
