Sivas’ın Ötesine Gidiş’in Bir Öyküsü veya Güneydoğu Güncesi’ne bir GİRİŞ…

Yıllar yılı, her New York’tan İstanbul’a gittiğimde, doğmuş olduğum ve hiç ayak basma imkanını bulamamış olduğum toprakların, özellikle Güneydoğu bölgesinde bulunan şehirleri merak eder ve gitmeyi de düşünüp dururdum da, bir türlü gidemezdim…
Taaa ki üç hafta öncesine kadar…

Bunun temel bir nedeni ise Türkiye’nin son 40 yılı aşkın bir süreçte sistematize olarak PKK terör belasıyla karşı karşıya getirilmiş ve bunun bugün dahi maalesef devam ediyor, olmasıdır. Bu durum, ülkenin Güneydoğu ve Doğu’sunda can güvenliği faktörünü, öz’de ise yörenin ülke sathında “güvensiz” kılınmasını getirmiştir. Özellikle de, gerek ülke çapında gerekse dünyaya bu yörelere ilişkin “güven” değil, “güvensizlik” pazarlanmıştır.
Onlarca yıl sürekli ve çok yönlü/kanallı bir çok dış devlet kaynaklı–destekli (20 kadar dış devletin arkasında olduğu bazı köşe yazarlarınca gündeme getirilmekte olan) PKK terörü ve propogandası; bu yörelerdeki şehirlerimize ilişkin “can güvenliği” daha doğrusu “can güvensizliği” konusunu da, ülke gündeminde en tepeye oturtmuştur.

To my son John Unver’s  21st Birthday…

It was exactly fifteen years before this event that
the Passport of World Citizenship had grabbed my attention…
I had first seen it among his prizes in the library of Sir Arthur C. Clarke
at the Barnes Place in Colombo,
during my first visit on December 20, 2002…

A CITY IN SPACE

There is a perception that everything exists in the universe as if it has been reflected through the mind of mankind…

I was in a forest densely filled with very tall and wide pine trees
There was a hillside at the entrance of the forest…
Just like the one at the entrance of the Forest Park by the Park Lane
which is 10 minutes from where I live
However, all the pine trees on the hillside were uprooted and carried away
The earth in the denuded open area was still very fresh and wet
As if it was fallowed that day with the purpose of farming!

I.
Many people used to mention the impossibility of interviewing you…
Once I was influenced by your vision, I wanted to interview you…
At that time, I had read in the newspapers that you were in New York…
I had immediately found out where you were staying and called
This hotel happened to be the one where you had written the book “2001: Space Odyssey”
Much later, I also found out that in front of the hotel wall,
there is a placket in your name that refers you’ve written the “2001: Space Odyssey” there…

Çoğu kimse, sana ulaşmanın – görüşmenin imkansızlığına dem vururdu…
Girmiştim bir kez vizyonunun etki alanına ve bir röportaj yapmak istiyordum…
Bir gazetede okumuştum New York’ta olduğunu o sıralar…
Hemen otelini öğrenip aramıştım ki, bu otel “2001: Uzay Macerası”nı da yazmış olduğun
Adına bir Plaket’in de duvarında asılı olduğunu da çok sonradan öğrenmiş olduğum bir otel…
Ve ne büyük bir rastlantı ki, New York’a 1990 yılında ilk ayak bastığım ve benim de kalmış olduğum oteldi, Hotel Chelsa…
Haberi okur okumaz hemen aramıştım oteli…
Maalesef o sabah ayrılmıştın Sri Lanka’ya dönmek üzere
Çok üzülmüştüm ama yapacak bir şey de yoktu o an…
