The opening of an exhibition and an awarding ceremony of the art competition “Youth – Future Energy” was held at the EXPO Congress center on 11 June in Astana.
The project was initiated by the “KAZENERGY” Association in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, and with the support from the Children’s Music School №1, Astana – UNESCO Club in the framework of the International exhibition “EXPO-2017”.
The main goal of this contest was to unite youth under the auspices of a global event, where young artists from the whole country to find new approaches to energy issue through artistic expression and presentation of their visions on sustainable development of the world and of the future.
In accordance with the judges, from over 500 participants the winners in three main nominations were defined as following:
- “The Role of Kazakhstan in World Energy” – Zhigunova Maria, Almaty;
- “Youth for Future Energy” – Figurova Yana, Almaty;
- “EXPO: Chronicles of Establishment and Development” – Makovskaya Darya, Karaganda.
The representative of UNICEF in Kazakhstan Mr. Yuri Oksamitnyi noted in his address that it is necessary to remember that children has a right to live in the world free of climate changes’ influence. In realization of this right should help the sustainable energy.
At the same time, Director General of “KAZENERGY” Association and President of Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs Mr. Bolat Akchulakov pointed out: “It is crucial to advance the importance of safeguarding the environment and of sustainable development in the mind of growing generation by searching for modern approaches to energy efficiency and the utilization of natural resources”.
According to project organizers that the values which current youth learns will determine the future. Future that starts today.
The exhibition will run between 11 and 14 of June 2017 at the EXPO Congress Center in the framework of the Ministerial meeting and the VIII International forum “Meeting the Challenge of Sustainable Energy”.
